Description

Self-injury among adolescents is an increasing concern, and clinicians need the tools and knowledge to effectively support teens and their families. This training will provide an in-depth understanding of self-harm behaviors, including underlying psychological and emotional factors, best practices for intervention, and strategies to engage families in the healing process. Participants will leave equipped to assess risk, develop treatment plans, and create a supportive environment for long-term recovery.

Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the Psychological and Emotional Drivers of Self-Injury: Learn about the factors contributing to self-harm, including trauma, attachment issues, emotional regulation difficulties, and overexcitability.

2. Assess Risk and Differentiate Between Self-Injury and Suicidality: Gain skills to evaluate the severity of self-harm behaviors and determine when additional interventions, such as crisis management, are necessary.

3. Develop Effective Therapeutic Strategies: Explore evidence-based approaches for helping teens manage distress, develop coping mechanisms, and build emotional resilience.

4. Engage Families in the Healing Process: Learn how to educate and support parents, foster healthy family communication, and create a safe and open environment for recovery.
